Project Eve’s new trailer, a Korean spectacle fighter, was first revealed in 2019. It is now included in the PlayStation Showcase along with trailers for Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake and Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands. The trailers also feature trailers for the Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic Remake, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands Remastered, Ghostwire: Tokyo and the Uncharted Legacy of Thieves Collection. This will be the series’ debut on PC. Project Eve’s PC release was previously mentioned in 2019. It is likely that it is still in the works.

It does indeed look like a character-action game, much like Bayonetta and Nier. The intro film shows Eve, the protagonist, constantly in motion. She’s tripping off one of its weapons and flipping around a gigantic monster. The camera keeps her butt in focus as much as possible.

These enemy designs are quite interesting. They look like bizarre Cthulhu-esque angels on a chainsaw wheel. The biblically correct angels, I mean, those with too many eyes. The bit where one of them opens eyes everywhere on its body including on its already open eye is like the developers saw the problem Final Fantasy 14 had with trypophobic players and said, “Hold my beer.”

As for how it plays, according to director Kim Hyung Tae on the PlayStation blog, Eve will “Acquire Beta Gauge (BG) by parrying and evading in combat. BG can be used to acquire skills such as piercing super armor and executing sweeping attacks. You can also interrupt enemy combos. Eve has a Burst Gauge, which accumulates through successive parries and combinations. This can be used to activate buffs or powerful attacks such as a leaping stagger. To change Eve’s appearance, you can find stylish costumes all throughout the game.

I am sure that the Beta Gauge will not be confused with the Burst Gauge by being abbreviated as BG. Just like those unlockable costumes, I’m certain they will be well-received.

Project Eve’s release date has not yet been announced.
