The Olympic shooting and boxing events of the Paris 2024 Olympics will change sites: the shooting leaves La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis), and the boxing qualifications will no longer be at Roland-Garros but in Seine-Saint- Denis, we learned Tuesday from the organizers and the department. Unable to be ready in time, the site of La Courneuve will not be able to receive the shot, which has a very strong chance of landing in Châteauroux (Indre). Boxing is on track to go to Villepinte (Seine-Saint-Denis), the finals remaining at Roland-Garros.

The new site for the basketball events has still not been formalized. It is a question of making an exchange with handball which would no longer play in Lille but at the Parc des Expos de Versailles in Paris, a site which basketball players do not want. Seine-Saint-Denis, the poorest department in France and to which an Olympic heritage has been promised, believes that it is “doing well” by exchanging boxing for shooting, explained its president Stéphane Troussel.

Since this winter, the ground of Essences in La Courneuve, former army ground in the process of being cleared, was no longer suitable, apparently becoming too small to house the shooting events. A thorn in the side for the organizers, who have already reworked the map in September 2020.
