The new boss of the LR deputies Olivier Marleix estimates Thursday in Le Figaro that the executive is “already out of breath” and he promises, at the head of the group Les Républicains, to work “in commando mode”.

“This executive is already out of breath” and “it has been trampling since the re-election of President” Emmanuel Macron, affirms the deputy for Eure-et-Loir, who regrets that “we still do not know his roadmap, nearly two months after the presidential election”.

According to him, the LR deputies “are perfectly aware today that they are much stronger together because there will be no possible adoption of texts without Les Républicains in the Assembly and in the Senate”.

And “one or two poaching will not allow the government minority to get closer to the majority”, warns Mr. Marleix, who “does not (want) that parliamentary work result in a succession of small arrangements on the corners of tables which would look like compromise”.

Promising to “work much more closely with Bruno Retailleau and the senators”, he repeats his intention to make “precise proposals” and to work “theme by theme, identifying “the essential measures” and “the red lines”.

The group’s first priorities will be “purchasing power” and “public finances”, a subject on which “we will put the government before its responsibilities” because “the budgetary situation will very quickly become untenable”, adds Mr. Marleix, who promises to work with his group in “commando mode”.

“I want a very responsive group and I’m going to set up a much more horizontal organization, shadow cabinet style (shadow cabinet, editor’s note)”, he promises.
