Putin signed a law on creating a single database with the data of Russians

Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a law establishing a uniform Federal register of personal data of citizens of the country. Relevant document published on the portal of legal information.

the Data for the common database will provide the Ministry of interior, Ministry of defense, Ministry of education and other relevant agencies and extrabudgetary funds. It will store information of all inhabitants of Russia, and residing in the territory of foreigners and persons without citizenship.

a Single register will include name, gender, date and place of birth and death, passport number, certificate of sole proprietorship, SNILS and INN, information about family status, education level, status, military service, health insurance and so on.

maintaining an information resource entrusted to the Federal tax service (FTS). The operator will also be responsible for the protection of stored information.

the bill was passed by the state Duma in the third reading on 21 may and approved by the Federation Council on 2 June. According to its authors, a single database of Russians will simplify the obtaining of public services, reduce paperwork, and reduce the number of fraud cases in the tax field.

the Law will come into force from 1 January 2022. The requirement to use the register as the sole and indispensable source of information will be operational from 2023 on. As expected, in the full mode, the system will work in 2025, at the end of the transition period.
