Former member of the Republicans, the right-wing president of the Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur region, Renaud Muselier, launched a regional party, calling for the gathering of all “the democratic and republican arc” after legislative elections where the extreme right won half of the constituencies.

Renaud Muselier left Les Républicains in November, accusing LR of drifting to the far right.

Officially presented at the start of the school year, this party, “Cap on the future? Our territories first”, will be intended to “politically defend the interests of all the territories, of all the inhabitants” of Paca, explained Renaud Muselier in a letter addressed to his “friends”, on the occasion of the national holiday Thursday.

He recalls in passing that it is “thanks to the gathering of reasonable environmentalists to the Gaullist right” that he was able to keep the region against the National Rally in 2021.

For him, “the political future of (this) region will be achieved in unity, far from Parisian considerations”: “There will therefore be welcome all those who want to contribute to (his) success”, “whatever (their ) political family of origin in the Democratic and Republican arc”.

In the presidential and legislative elections in 2022, he supported Emmanuel Macron, in a joint approach with the mayors of Nice and Toulon, Christian Estrosi and Hubert Falco, who also deserted LR.

But he assures us to remain “a man of the right, a Gaullist, a Chiraquian, a Sarkozyist, a liberal”.

In the June legislative elections, the far right won half of the 42 constituencies of Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, 20 for the RN, one for the outgoing candidate of the Southern League in Vaucluse. A historic score for the RN.
