CGT secretary general Philippe Martinez said on Tuesday that it was “out of the question” for the CGT to “participate in meetings at the national level where there would be representatives of the National Rally”, a situation which could produce given its weight in the Assembly.

“Our opposition regarding the National Rally has not changed,” Martinez said during a press conference at the CGT headquarters in Montreuil.

“And so we will be vigilant and more than vigilant about our interlocutors and for us it is out of the question to participate in meetings at the national level where there would be representatives of the National Rally”, he continued.

Mr. Martinez made this point when he was questioned about the participation of the CGT in the National Council for Refoundation (CNR), which could include representatives of parliamentary groups.

“With this downside”, the CGT had every intention of participating in the first meeting of the CNR, which was to take place on Wednesday, but which was finally adjourned after the second round of the legislative elections.
