The motion of censure tabled by the left alliance Nupes, debated in the afternoon in the Assembly, was rejected by the deputies. The vote came after an afternoon of speeches by the various groups and the head of government, who denounced the approach of the left.

According to the Prime Minister, “the French are fed up with sterile dialogues and the law of postures”, and have “sent a clear message” to the elections.
The left alliance did not quite fill up the 151 votes in total of the Insoumis, socialists, ecologists and communists. Six socialists defected, including Valérie Rabault and a non-signatory of the motion, Dominique Potier. The only voter outside Nupes is the sovereignist Nicolas Dupont-Aignan. This is far from enough to overthrow the government, which would have required an absolute majority of 289 votes and was impossible without the votes of the LR and RN.
The motion was intended as a show of “defiance” towards Elisabeth Borne, who does not have an absolute majority in the National Assembly and did not seek a vote of confidence on July 7, during her policy statement. Uber Files remained a distant subject. The left has only made simple allusions to these revelations by the press of privileged exchanges between society and Emmanuel Macron when he was at Bercy.
In the evening, the Assembly will take up the bill on health security and its braking measures against the resurgence of Covid-19, the first text of the legislature. It aims to extend health data collection systems (Covid tests, vaccination) and set up a border health pass if the health situation so requires. The RNs or certain elected Nupes contest the entire bill and intend to put the health policy carried out on trial. The debates should be animated about the overseas territories.
